Smoke extraction and ventilation ducts

Smoke extraction and ventilation ducts can become a perfect route for the propagation of smoke and flames in the event of fire. To exclude this risk, ducts are made from non-flammable or fire-retardant materials. Also, the ducts have to withstand exposure for a sufficiently long time. This can be provided either by building new self-supporting ducts from such refractory materials or by enclosing existing steel plated ducts with fire-resistant panels.
